Accops Unveils New Remote Authentication Solution for the Enterprise
Thursday, March 31, 2022

India’s Accops Systems has released a new biometric authentication solution for remote work environments. Accops BioAuth supports both face and fingerprint recognition, and can provide ongoing authentication to prevent data breaches after an employee is logged in.

In that regard, BioAuth can use the camera in a laptop or desktop computer to monitor an employee while they are in front of the screen. It can revoke access if an unregistered individual tries to use the device, or even if it detects a person or a strange object lingering in the background. In doing so, BioAuth thwarts anyone that would try to look over the shoulder of a genuine employee while they are using their computer.

For the initial login, BioAuth matches a new biometric scan to a face or fingerprint template stored in a BioAuth database. Employees must register their data in advance to take advantage of the biometric authentication option. The system itself is technology-agnostic, and allows people to use sensors from any vendor to log into a wide range of business applications.

The IT department can also use BioAuth’s robust backend features to exert more control over a remote network. On that front, the Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) solution allows administrators to curtail an employee’s ability to use the copy-paste function, or to limit printing, screen-sharing, and downloading functions. The system generates an auditable log of access events, recording exactly what resources employees looked at, and tracking how long they were at their desks.

“Ensuring security across digital workspace with a geographically distributed workforce is a major challenge for organizations today,” said Accops CEO Vijender Yadav. “Traditional passwords are not potent enough to secure the modern enterprise network from highly sophisticated cyberattacks. The integrated facial authentication and continuous user monitoring features check credential sharing or theft.”

BioAuth is built to be a turnkey IDaaS offering, and reflects the growing interest in solutions that can eliminate the threat of shoulder surfing for remote workers. Accops believes that its own solution is well-suited to financial services, healthcare, and other businesses that handle sensitive personal information.
